In our opinion, it takes the right mix of ingredients for a restaurant to be worthy of being linked with the famous Qureshi name (Indian culinary masters) and, thankfully, Spice has an almost winning combination. Sporting a modern ethnic atmosphere with plush comfortable seating and ofcourse, glorious food, Spice is a welcome addition to Barsha... but it won’t satisfy everyone’s budget. Starters cost about the same as the mains, and you’re looking at shelling out Dhs60-70 for each dish. If you can afford it though, the food is more than worth it – it tastes fresh, with all the right spices blended perfectly, and a few innovative dishes for those that want to go beyond a tikka masala.

Tried the restaurant last night with my parents, wife, and a cranky 3 year old. Food: They were featuring a Hyderabadi menu for a limited time. We ordered a couple of veg and non-veg dishes, including their Musallaman Chicken Biryani. The Biryani made up for all the other dishes we ordered. I'm certainly not a Biryani connoisseur, however, it was certainly the best that we have had. Their Daal Makhani was also noteworthy, and their Palak Daal was something different as well. Overall +1 for their Biryani. Service: With a three year old cranky kid we took the chance to try the restaurant. The staff was excellent and gave him the needed attention, with making him an indian version of cheese pizza with Naan. That was +1 as it mellowed him down for something new as he gobbled it down, while we enjoyed our food. The service otherwise was great as well - the Chef peronally came to our table to ask how the food was, and the manager came atleast twice to us to make sure everything was okay. He personally went to each person in our family to make sure there wasn't anything that we needed. Another +1 for Service and attention to detail. Ambiance: Cosy, romantic, and warm ambiance. My dad is very fond of old indian songs, and with a request for old Mukesh songs, they were able to hit the cord perfectly. That was another +1 for band that they had playing there and their ability to take our request. Price: Perhaps the only thing to complain was the price. With the Entertainer coupons the bill was still above AED 500. Granted that it was a full 4-course meal with a bottle of wine, however, with the entire experience it was all worth it for a great evening. Overall: We will certainly be there again for a special ocassion. Wish the price point made us go there more often though. I'm usually critical of restaurants, however, this restaurant is nothing less than the Asha's of the world - 5 stars from my side.
