Bollywood Café
Dancing women and Indian food in the Regal Plaza Hotel 1 Reviews
From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2007
The food at this unusual club/restaurant plays second fiddle to the live entertainment, which features a troupe of beautiful but unhappy-looking girls taking to the stage in glittering Bollywood attire and half-heartedly shuffling to some deafening beats, provided by a strange ensemble of DJ, guitarist and keyboardist.
The live entertainment is an acquired taste and the service can feel quite oppressive, with waiting staff regularly shaking customers’ hands before standing over their tables and scrutinising every mouthful.
The food is hit-and-miss, with meaty prawn curries, drab potato cakes, dull fried mutton and delicately spiced vegetable and cheese rolls, but this is really only for people who like their music deafeningly loud and their hospitality overbearing.
