Go West
American frontier theme restaurant in Jumeirah 1 Reviews
From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2008
With booths trussed up as wagons, plastic horses donning saddles, a totem pole and other American frontier paraphernalia adorning the walls, Go West provides a welcoming little slice of Americana right here in the heart of Dubai.
Given the incredibly colourful decor, you’d be forgiven for thinking that it’s the surroundings and not the food that is the real star of the show, but you’d be wrong. The menu boasts an array of great tasting dishes. Quesadillas are the right balance between gloopy and crunchy, while the spicy fried chicken is tender and tasty without turning your mouth into a furnace.
Other stand-outs include the wafer thin tortillas, smeared with generous dollops of guacamole, sour cream, salsa and cheese, and folded with sizzling beef, chicken or prawns, and the beef and pork ribs where the tender meat slithers off the bone.
If you can manage dessert, ditch the diet and try the mojito mango and chocolate cake. Staff are friendly and efficient, and there’s also an on-site bar serving excellent alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, making Go West more of a fun night out than a food experience.
It’s definitely not somewhere to go for a romantic meal, but it’s a great option for a group of friends looking for a lively evening.
