Dhow & Anchor
Open terrace with decent pub fare in Jumeirah Discuss this article
From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2008
There’s a snug dining room and an open terrace where decent pub fare can be sampled reasonably cheaply. Starters consist of American-style potato skins loaded with beef and melted cheese sitting next to pub classics, which hit the spot.
But the mains are where the Dhow can congratulate itself. The steak and mushroom pie, with its combination of superb flaky pastry, tender hunks of beef and chunks of mushroom swimming in thick ale gravy, is a favourite with regulars, and the chips aren’t weedy french fries, but sturdy numbers that soak up the rich sauce to perfection.
The desserts are just about up to scratch, with only the homemade fruit pies and ice-creams coming anywhere near top notch pub grub. But with mains as good as these, you can’t grumble.
