From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009
With its memorable view of Mall of the Emirates’ indoor ski slope – and all of its slipping, sliding and occasionally colliding sportsters – it might be easy to write off Aprés as a gimmick.
Thankfully, the food justifies its place on Dubai’s roster of popular restaurants. Granted, first appearances aren’t encouraging. Draw your eyes away from the slope and you’ll find yourself in a place with a confused design aesthetic. Ugly red tiles here, wooden floors there, shiny chrome all over the place and all those space-age lights.
But call over the slightly flaky staff and get yourself a table of quality food and your concerns about dubious decor will no doubt fade away.
Unusually for a mall restaurant, you can order a glass of wine with your meal, which helps. From the tasty starters through the delicious – if not necessarily sizeable – main courses, to the rich desserts, you’ll find plenty here to get your teeth into. And, if you can get a place by the window (reservations recommended) there is plenty to get your eyes into as well.
