Nezesaussi - Restaurant Award Highly Commended
Sports-friendly bar food near Burj Dubai 2 Reviews
From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009
Nezesaussi has great grub, but, aesthetically, it is an odd thing. It feels rather like the Al Manzil Hotel ordered a grubby sports bar online, but upon opening the wrapping paper found that they’d received something rather classier and had to step up the rest of it to match.
As a result, the bar has the TV screens, cheesy memorabilia and middle-aged, glassy-eyed punters of a standard sports bar, but also a fancy open cooking station and sizeable wine rack.
Perhaps as a result of this, they hid it away at the side of the hotel, behind a café that interested punters must walk through. We just can’t think of another explanation. Still, if you get past the confused decor, you’ll find a lot to commend about the place.
The staff are prompt and attentive without being suffocating, and the food – which is a mix of South African and Australian-themed dishes, along with the morbidly fascinating-sounding ‘monkey gland’ sauce – is, on the whole excellent, if a little highly priced. And no, the sauce isn’t actually made from monkey glands, it’s a type of South African barbecue sauce. Phew.
