From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009

Due to its location in the business hub of DIFC, Nuevo comes across as somewhere functional – more suited to an executive power breakfast or lunch meeting than a cosy evening dinner. The menu promises ‘fusion latino’, but simpler fare and even a few Italian dishes manage to creep in.

Nuevo isn’t licensed, but you can start your meal with a refreshing fruit juice. Portions here are pretty big, so even if you just order a starter you may find your appetite sated – the potato skins, for example, is pretty much a whole jacket potato, smothered in melted custard-yellow cheese.

For mains, the Latino chicken and Nuevo steak are pretty basic, arriving with fries and steamed veg – the steak, if ordered medium rare, tends to vary in colour from bright pink to grey, but with prices around the Dhs50-60 mark you’re probably not going to expect gourmet cooking.

If you’re in the area, Nuevo is a reasonable place to grab a quick bite at lunch over a spreadsheet, but, for a night-time treat, there are places with more atmosphere and better food.
