From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009
The China Club’s interior has a sort of world-worn charm, and the homely food is excellent. While it’s perfectly acceptable to dine out at this bastion of traditional Chinese fare in the evening, the daytime yum cha (or dim sum) is truly where the restaurant makes its mark.
Though yum cha is served every day, on Fridays the vibe is more convivial. For a mere Dhs95 per person, you can chow down on unlimited dumplings, noodles, soup and dessert.
Virtually everything that comes out is a goer: steamed crystal shrimp dumplings are tender and well-seasoned; sweet corn soup is gloopy, warm and comforting; spring rolls are crisp and light; and even the dessert offerings satisfy (the mango pudding is especially smooth and rich).
It’s no wonder that the restaurant recycles the same dishes year-in, year-out: they’ve got a good thing going and they see no reason to let go.
