From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009
The food at Da Shi Dai is decidedly ho-hum, and yet the restaurant’s surprisingly popular. To be fair, it does have a very attractive menu, one that builds up your expectations of experiencing authentic Chinese food.
The dim sum section will have you spoilt for choice. However, the dumplings and wontons all prove pretty flavourless. And this theme continues throughout, with a lack of seasoning and spice stopping the dishes having any real taste.
The selling point of Da Shi Dai, though, is how well it caters for children. You can get three kiddy courses for Dhs15, and the options make a healthy alternative to your usual fast-food family haunts.
Another plus is for those living in Jumeirah Beach Residence, it offers healthy food in small portions at a reasonable price. For residents of the apartment complex, we imagine that alone is worth its weight in dumplings.
