Chill Out

Not the most fun place to eat - due to the icy temperatures - but worth a trip for the photos alone Reviews

From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009

Eating in temperatures of minus six degrees is not pleasant, no matter how hot it gets in Dubai. But, it’s worth a trip to Chill Out, Dubai’s only ice bar, just for the novelty and the photos.

The ‘decor’ is impressive; the small room has ice sculptures of the Burj al Arab and other Dubai landmarks, and looks like a trendy bar, with its multi-coloured lighting. Don’t go in your skimpy club wear, however, as even with the thick jackets and gloves provided, you’ll feel like a Popsicle.

The tasty soups and skewered meats (served on dancing flames), and the super-friendly bar man/waiter/photographer, are warm enough to make you forget the chill. It’s a great gimmick, and a worthwhile, surreal Dubai experience. But, the lack of customers suggests that its location (the quiet Time Square Mall in Al Quoz) is all wrong, and it might be better suited by Ski Dubai in Mall of the Emirates.

The entrance fee has been wrongly updated. The entrance fee actually is AED 60 for adults and AED 30 for kids and is inclusive of a welcome drink.
The ice lounge served barbecues, soups, sandwiches and a variety of hot drinks and mocktails.. and needless to say provides a very different CHILL OUT experience which has no parallel in the entire middle east.

Parry
