Palermo
European elegance at the Dubai Polo Club 1 Reviews
From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009
It’s not uncommon in this city to find a very good restaurant in a golf club, so why should a polo club be any different?
Feeling almost like a room in a stately home, how busy Palermo gets and how lively the atmosphere is, is bound to be affected by the four-legged action taking place outside – visit away from game time, and it’s a very quiet place indeed.
The menu, although small, features some reliable fare – the caramelised onion and tomato tart and cured salmon are pleasant enough starters, but the highlights are the mains, in particular the lamb shank.
Served on a bed of mashed potato, surrounded by cous cous and caramelised vegetables, the succulent meat falls from the bone at the merest suggestion of a knife. Alternatively, order a main like the tuna steak and order your own sides, but avoid the béarnaise sauce, with tends to be a little oily. Warm chocolate cake and deep-fried banana tempura will help round off the evening.
