From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009
Belonging to a chain of Lucknowi restaurants famous in India, this busy Satwa eatery serves up signature biryanis and varqi parantha (a pancake made with desi, ghee, almonds, cashews and ‘other special ingredients’), dahls and delicious kebabs, along with quintessential curries.
The staff are cheerful and knowledgeable and more than happy to share their wisdom on Indian food, but if they’re too busy you can simply sneak a peek at your disposable placemat.
On Time Out’s last visit, we read that kekori kebabs were concocted during an annual kebab-making competition in 1896 by Nabbu Mian – who, it seems, with the 52 secret spices he blended to make this dish, is India’s answer to Colonel Sanders. If you go by the placemat, this dish ‘melts in your mouth, with a taste that lingers for a lifetime’. We concur.
