Casa Goa
Indian restaurant specialising in Goan food comes to Dubai Discuss this article
From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009
Think of Goa and images of bright, sunny beaches, Portuguese architecture and plush flora spring to mind. But Casa Goa doesn’t seem to agree: the bizarrely low-lit environ is simply decked out in chintzy tiki-style furnishings.
However, it’s closer to the mark with its food. Stick to the authentic Goan dishes and you’ll be pleased with the mound of plump and peppery prawns and delightful lamb and potato chops placed in front of you for starters.
One strange disappointment, however, is that instead of roti or naan bread, they only offer English-style buns. Not quite the same when used to soak up the sauce of a Goan fish curry. Especially as the gravy is too watery anyway, with a lack of onions or tomato chunks spoiling an otherwise tasty dish.
