P2

Pricey seafood restaurant in Jumeirah Reviews

From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009

P2 is the upstairs brasserie to Pisces, the seafood restaurant. P2 is a tad more informal, and its menu a bit more French than its parent.

Alongside plentiful seafood options, there is tasty beef tartare, a delicious duck confit, and for dessert, a light and fluffy crème brûlée. It’s all very good, and the terrace is lovely. A good choice if you haven’t got the dirhams for Pisces and like some French flair with your fish.

Most of the time, when you go in a high level seafood restaurant, this is because you love seafood and you want to eat something fresh and tasty. But in P2 (and so Pisces!) the seafood platter at 950 dhs for two with a glass of wine, you just have a taste of tomato sauce (maybe ketchup!) and chive; Indeed, you have a tuna carpaccio mixed with tomato sauce, and all the shellfish are cooked with chive, so you don't have the real taste of what you eat. Did they need to hide the taste of the shellfish because it's not really fresh? And for this price they only propose a poor glass of white chardonnay... Besides, the day after, my wife and myself had some stomach trouble...
That was my worst experience in four years in Dubai in a "high level restaurant. It's really too espensive for that quality.
