Flickering candlelight? Check. Plush velvet cushions? Check. Fez-capped oud and darbuka players serenading diners? Check.
If you’re searching for a refined, Middle-Eastern atmosphere, make a beeline for Ottomans. As you sip wine on the romantic terrace and gaze at the moonlight over the marina, you might even forget to pay attention to the food. But you should, because it’s superb.
With such a fabulous-sounding array of dishes adorning the menu, you might struggle to decide what to order. The attentive and friendly staff can help answer your queries, but we suggest selecting a few starters like the pistachio-encrusted prawns served with, not one, but two types of watercress, or the imam bayildi, a famous Turkish mezze made with eggplant, green lentils, tomato and cacik, a plain yoghurt mixed with dill and cucumber.
As for mains, the generous portions of lamb shish and king prawns are the standouts; devastatingly tender, fresh and flavoursome. The only real gripe is the somewhat steep price attached.
