Topkapi
Turkish food with some Middle Eastern dishes Discuss this article
From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009
With nice touches like waiters donned in silk pantaloons and cushion-lined banquettes to eat at, Topkapi tries hard to create an authentic experience.
The staff are obliging and friendly, but this may be because they need you to enjoy yourself and spread the word, as this place tends to be empty. The menu includes Turkish and Lebanese sections, and offers a range of exciting-sounding possibilities.
However, the food, in reality, is as exciting as the atmosphere in the place. Kebabs, chicken and so on, come and go without much in the way of taste, if it weren’t for a rambunctious fattoush on the side, your taste buds are likely to be fast asleep throughout the entire evening.
Neither massively disappointing nor memorably enjoyable, this hotel filling-stop fulfils its existence adequately; no more, no less.
