From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009

The menu at Counter Culture isn’t particularly enticing for a dinnertime jaunt: it suggests a soup-and-sandwich shop. But if you hunger for more, head to the counter.

Fresh salads, massively portioned pies, and grilled mains will make you drool on the glass. The soup is homely and the chicken pie is full of tender meat, but covered in slightly too-doughy pastry. It’s simple but satisfying fare.

Counter Culture has a lot going for it: the food is good, the prices all hover around the Dhs30 mark, and the venue is open 24 hours. It’s a shame the restaurant is tucked away inside the marina, because it makes an ideal neighbourhood haunt.

I cannot say we were too happy with the restaurant. The choice of food from the a la carte menu wasn't the best. Service was slow and the cakes and custards seemed like they have been laying around in their chillers for days. If you're looking for an upmarket deli, try the Delicatessen at the Dusit Hotel.

I would like to say that this was the worst restaurant i have ever visited. The service was bad, we had to wait for long periods till our food came. Also they missed out like 2 or 3 dishes that we ordered. After all this when it came time for dessert, we learned that all the cakes kept in the fridge were weeks old, the particular one that we ordered was stale!

I dont recommend anyone going to this place. I was very disappointed.
