Pick up the menu at Dum Pukht and you quickly get a sense of what the place does best: Biriyani. Don’t expect too much from this cafe-style diner set back from the Sheikh Kalifa Road.

For what this unpretentious place does is very simple (just in case you don’t get the point, the word ‘biriyani’ is even emblazoned on the front of the menu. You’ll find the usual list of North Indian/Pakistani treats on the menu, with the meat and rice dishes served with large chunks of chicken, mutton or vegetable steeped in colourful basmati.
