From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009

If there’s one thing Dubai is short on, it’s a traditional greasy spoon. iBite doesn’t really resemble one of these truckers’ havens either, but there is something about the place that brings quaint corner-eateries to mind.

Perhaps it’s because this is a late-night spot – the restaurant serves shisha and is open until 5am – or maybe it’s the ramshackle menu offerings. All the diner staples are here: burgers, greasy chips, fried eggs, chicken soup, and the random main courses that you know you’d be better off ordering at a less dishevelled establishment.

Although the setting, in a sheer plastic marquee with floors of Astroturf, a handful of floor lamps and Arabic music, means this isn’t your traditional diner, it is more relaxing, and more Middle Eastern.

The food is not particularly satisfying, however, lacking flavour and flair, so we wouldn’t really recommend iBite if you’re after a good meal. But the beauty of the place is that it’s open when nothing else is.

If you happen to be suffering from insomnia, or have just finished your delivery route, you might as well give the place a try.
