Celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor’s Khazana is a great family eatery thanks to its mild, but very tasty curries. The cane furniture and plants dotted around the room create a relaxed, homely atmosphere and the waiters are a friendly bunch.

The Masala popadoms are a cracking start to a delicious meal, in which hints of chilli in the dishes are more a friendly pat on the back, rather than a well-weighted punch. This may displease hardcore spice fans, but at least your tastebuds aren’t so sizzled you can’t taste the other flavours.

But the menu is huge, so if you really want to blow your head off, there’s sure to be a dish that’ll do it in there somewhere. Over all, Khazana is a safe bet for a great curry and a relaxed night out.

I have been to the restaurant earlier..in 2007 and it definitely was better even though not value for money even then. But this weekend, we made the mistake of revisiting the place for a Birthday lunch and were trully disappointed. Like some comments before, Mr. Sanjeev Kapoor should definitely take note and visit/ quality check the place. Sad to say but its not welcoming at all ! Right from the entrance, broken flower pots, barely any maintenance for the ageing decor and two flights of stairs ! My elderly mother who never climbs stairs had to struggle up and all for a distasteful lunch :( Inside, the place is quite dark even in the day, so one fears lack of cleanliness and hygiene(very weak water supply/broken faucets in the wash basins also). My mother has always been a fan of Mr. Kapoor..but the food was extremely disappointing. We ordered paaya shorba, a grill plate, bread basket, shaam savera, some mild version of chicken and rasmalai apart from some extra kulchas etc. The kulchas left much to desire, and like others above have said, most of the dishes were bit too spicy. The malai(?) chicken was too much of cornfloury (?) taste and the rasmalai also was like a small time cafes..we were not given any comments book(?) and to sum it many 3 star hotels do faaar better ! I didn't check the bill but now fear there might've been some errors since our bill was nearly 700 dhs ! That sealed it..never going back there and will be advising friends also against it sorry !!! What we need is a compensation !

w o r s t PLACE ever been .As you enter the smell is very bad,,, The ceiling was leaking with AC water falling on the food and staff looking each other .Ordered for a nonveg grill platter after a long wait came veg grill . food was very hot n spicy
Staff Attiude was such as if were unhappily forced to work.
Overall Award winning restaurents should be re revisited and reviewed. after certain period. This is overpriced normal place with only dish names special in it..

The food has always been good- been there about 4-5 times & my son rates the Butter Chicken as best in the world, but we've often had a few niggles with the billing.
Once, we were charged for 2 portions of masala papad, when we had ordered just 1. On bringing this to the notice of the waiter, he told us that he brought us 3 papads instead of the usual 2 which come in a portion.
So he decided to get us 1 & a half portions & bill us for 2, although we had ordered 1 ( & it was all served on 1 plate)!
Another time, when we were using a "2 for 1" coupon for a main dish, the waiter refused to treat the biryani as a main dish. He said they only consider " curry" as a main dish. We had to call for the manager to resolve this.
Also, I find their follow up calls rather annoying, when they come at a busy time ( anytime).A survey sheet at the end of the meal really should suffice.

Too good !! Too delicious !! we really enjoyed the food. Everything we ordered was outstanding the gulab Jamun, Kulfi with falooda is very innovative and tasty looking forward to visit again.

One of my worst Restaurant memories. I have travelled to so many countries and love to experiment and try out all types of food. I am making a very honest remark here. Our family after visiting the Irani market in Deira just decided to try out some good food. After some discussion with my husband we decided to try Indian food and had Ashiana , Aha's and KK as option . We settled for KK and regret the decision. Have been there before. Ambience is ok nothing great . We started with some Kebabs priced at AED 75 ( very high considering that the ingredients were normal) tried Chapali kebab. Tasted better one for AED 15 at a Pakistani restaurant in Bur Dubai. I could not move to the main course because all the spices and dont know what had bloated up my stomach. Settled with Chas too cool myself. Mu mom and husband moved on to Biryani. I would like to mention tha the food was very expensive , all of us in the family has sever indigestion and my daughter even vomiited the next day. Expected much muich more from a master chef. Extremely discappointed. Considering that so many celebrity guests have visited before. I would recommend anyone that if you want a grat satisfying meal try restaurants like Salkara in Lulu hypermarket. Reasonably priced and made a great eating experience without burning a hole in the pocket or Manvar in Karama ( never disappoints) I hope Sanjeev Kapoor can take notice. The re migh be excuses for taste, we might not like too much masal but no excuse for the extreme acidityand stomach upset that followed after eating in this restaurant. Too too disappointed hmmmmm

Khana Khazana, which is cooler, a Beer which is Dhs.32/- or a Salted lassi which is Dhs.30/-? Please explain. Can we get a 50% treat for something I am not satisfied…..Hurry…..Hurry……Hurry…..The staff were in a hurry to close. I wanted to know , when Sanjeev Kapoor visits his group of restaurant? The Award shelf is dusty……Zinga means frozen prawns, Hariyali zinga prawn, we had to pack…..3 Naans without butter Dhs. 45/-…….We regret this visit on 6th Nov 2011, Is this a 5 star hotel? The rates were exorbitant for a restaurant. Even the 5 Star hotels which we have tried out serves better food at the same rate. We want a 50% treat as we were not given the guest book to enter our comments or speak to the manager. Unsatisfied family. Kindly respond at the earliest….the Railway mutton was good ….but still we are not satisfied……We look forward to a friendly invitation from the Chef Sanjeev .

Who ever wrote this review please consider changing it...because this place is exceptionally packed even on weekdays let alone weekends...I have never experienced even 0.0002% of the complains on this review in my 10 years of eating here.....the most amazing Indian food ever.

This is a horrible place to visit, the food is so bad that even food in cafeteria will taste good, and till the food comes to your table its cold, first of all no one comes to take order and wheh they come they are looking so bored and after taking order the food come 30 minutes late that also half only as one of the dishes got finished, and they did not care to inform us, horrible horrible place please never go

COMPLETE DISAPPOINTMENT! Took my friends who were visiting dubai on a transit only for a night which i insisted on them coming.. Wish i had'nt passed by american hospital and spotted the restaurant thinking it would be a good place to take them..The service was horrible.It seemed like they were not gettin their salaries on time coz they seemed least bothered..Talk about the food, there was absolutely nothing special about it..I've tasted indian places far more better than this and not too expensive either.Dont want to get in detail coz i was so upset that i actually started laughing thinking what just happened in there.Hope these reviews will reach sanjay kapoor or any person whose really concerned about changing the way this place has been running..Whoever were pleased and said YES about going back to this place were either lucky for some reason to get the best of everything or is just a part of the khana khazana group.This place is a big "NO".

I viisited this place over the weekend. Once the waiters knew that I was not interested in drinks, their attitude changed rigt away. The menu is elabrorate, but has a limited selection for vegeratians. I tried 3 vegetarian dishes including the baingan and mirchi ki salaan which was spicy and hot to my liking. The mixed vegetable preparation was decent as well. I found an error in my bill which looks like was done on purpose to bump up my bill and the waiter was insistent that he had brought the # of kulcha's and not oneless as we could count, why do they need to do it after selling me a bottle of water for 24 DHS? The food definately is good with menu items that you might not find else where but the place lacks ambience and decor...

I went to Khazana restaurant and enjoyed the whole experience of India. The food was superb and the ambiance was really nice. The service was most impressive. I would recommend Khazana and will be coming again in my next trip to Dubai.

I had the most horrible experiece in terms of service by the whole staff of Khana Khazana in Dubai. Bad smell, broken walls & stale food!Had planned for a birthday for my mother where I had handed over the cake to the staff to be brought to the table at 12AM & after giving many instructions to the staff before coming for dinner, a lady turns up to the table with the cake at 11.40 & stands front of my mom & when i asked her as it is not 12 yet, she asks me if she should bring it after half an hour, how dumb could someone be! I was furious & after this none of the staff comes to the table. I had to blow of the candle myself & ask the staff to pack the cake & bring the bill. My mood was totally ruined. Though the manager did learn about this incidence he left the place & was absconding. I had to pay off the bill & go to the reception asking for the manager. For further disappointment, the manager comes n nods his head & murmured few words as if it really dint bother him & he did not even have the courtesy to convince me & make me feel better about the whole incidence. Also, the staff very smartly dint bring the comments book to the table which otherwise is one of their must formalities at the end of the dinner. For the highly priced restaurant the service is worst than a roadside fastfood counter with regards to the ambience & quality! I would never recommend anyone to go to this so called Sanjeev Kapoor restaurant as its a shame to be known as one of the well known Indian Chef's restaurants in town. HORRIBLE SERVICE & nothing else. The staff & manager definitely needs a course of english classes & some grooming!

The food was ok, the Chicken chaat was quite good however the mutton in the Rogan Josh didnt taste that good.
Decor was above average

I do find it interesting that most of the positive reviews are short, sinilar in nature, and dont contain any details on what item was good; this is generally indicative of inaccurate/made up reviews

I think this is one of the (or maybe the top) "Never to visit" Indian restaurants in Dubai. I think half of the reviews are planted by the team itself. The ambience is extremely dull and there is a constant smell as if the restaurant has just been opened after a decade. The fountain definitely is too noisy!!
Being a Sanjeev Kapoor fan, I was excited to go but it turned out to be the worst lunches I have ever had. The food is far below average - served cold with thick roomali rotis (that is the most basic thing an Indian restaurant can serve). We ordered two dishes (the helping was good though) but both dishes seemed to have been pre-cooked a night before and reheated and served. No flavour at all. We just managed to have two spoonfuls. And rest we got it parceled as we didnt want to waste. However, I had to throw the other dish (Methi Makai Matar) completely as it was without any flavour.
and Do not even by mistake order the makai shorba for soup - coz it is HORRIBLE.
Go only if you want to return with an extremely bad taste in mouth. My birthday lunch was ruined completely.
I would request Sanjeev Kapoor to do some checks over there.

I would say it is the best Indian restaurants in Dubai, the food is delicious, i would strongly recommend the Sham Savera, they have a great selection of drinks too. The service is excellent with really attentive waiters. The ambiance in the restaurant is also very nice, with beautiful decorations and a few mini waterfalls.

This is really The Best Restaurant in whole Dubai. Food was just excellent superb. Staff was really very helpful and very attentive. ambience was very inviting and I will suggest everybody to go this restaurant and find the real indian food taste.

This is the one of the most hyped restaurants in Dubai. The place is too noisy and the noise from the fountains adds to the misery. I had huge expectations from this restaurant going by the popularity of the promoters, but all the enthusiasm vanished in few minutes when I tasted the common dishes which were pathetic. I think they tinker with the recipe too much it turns out to be a new dish altogether, which leaves bad taste in the mouth. I strongly suggest not visiting this place unless you are too excited to experiment.

I had heard a lot about this place and decided to try it out once evening. Maybe we just went there when they were having a not so good day. The kebab platter we ordered was average. The chicken curry was clearly not up to the standards and on top of that the rotis served were somewhat burnt and stiff. A complete let down as I was a regular viewer of Sanjeev Kapoor's tv show and also purchased his recipe books. It was not at all worth spending 200 dirhams for this mediocre fare.

well, i mention it to be good for Romantic as I was there on Vday but I guess it is safe to say that it'll be good for all types.

The staff were friendly, service was good, food excellent, ambience was amazing. It was a perfect evening there.

Clear among the best restaurants in Dubai, and it will make me visit it often.

I will recommend 'Amar Kahani' and 'Gulaab Jamuns' if you visit Khana Khazana.
