From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009
The first thing you will notice on entering the Tandoor Brassiere – an odd name, given it’s about as French as Mahatma Gandhi – is that it is likely to be almost empty.
Perhaps it’s down to its placement – in the unimposing Golden Tulip Al Barsha, up the road from Mall of the Emirates – as Tandoor Brassiere is actually a lovely place. Zip over to the buffet, which has a pleasingly varied selection of dishes.
A scoop of chana chat (boiled chickpea salad) mixed with fresh vegetables makes for a healthy starter, while the shami kebabs are delicious with richly flavoured lamb, raisins, fried onions and nuts.
For the main course, try the aloo matar, which features a delicious tomato sauce, peas and potatoes, or the fragrant, gentle and flavoursome classic chicken korma, backed up ably by fluffy naan bread and a delicious mango chutney.
The desserts are also sweet and tasty enough to round your meal off nicely. And so, the only bad thing to be said about the restaurant – aside from its decor, which is a little gloomy – is the location. You will need to bring friends to create your own atmosphere, but everyone is bound to leave full and satisifed.
