From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009
The Dubai incarnation of this longstanding Milanese chain remains one of the city’s most popular restaurants.
Service is deft and speedy, while the setting is spacious and attractive, with wood floors and well-spaced tables. Bice plays on the theme of an Italian restaurant in an international setting, from, ‘Buona seras’ uttered by Asian waiting staff, to set-pieces such as giant pepper mills and trolley loads of olive oil.
Any suspicions about the speedy appearance of dishes are soon allayed; lobster carpaccio with caviar and artichoke heart – one of the signature dishes – makes a wonderful starter, and the pasta dishes are inventive too – try the black and white tagliolini with tiger prawns, asparagus and garlic oil.
Chocolate soufflé fondant heads up the desserts. The final touches are not quite up there with the best, and there is the definite sense that this is a chain restaurant – albeit a fine-dining one – but Bice remains one of the city’s safest bets for a good Italian dining experience.
