From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009
There might be several reasons for a visit to Casa Mia: maybe it’s for the outdoor setting and bubbling fountain; it could be because you’re heading to the nearby Alpha nightclub afterwards; or maybe it’s because you like Italian restaurants that offer a lot of seafood, wines from each of the 20 regions of Italy, and also its own olive oil menu.
The specials the waiter reels off on your arrival could feature anything from oysters to lobster. Stick to the menu, and the shallow-fried jumbo prawns on a bed of salad are fairly promising as a starter, but the seafood mixed grill as a main is a lot to get through and doesn’t offer enough ‘wow factor’ for the money.
Likewise, the lamp chops are a solid option, but you may be left wondering if something a little more exciting could have been done with the accompanying veggies. An array of pasta and pizza dishes completes the menu, and the dessert listings include such staples as tiramisu and Italian ice cream.
It’s a reliable venue, and will suffice if you’re in the mood for Italian fare, but if you’re serious about it, there are better options around town.
