Il Rustico

Value for money restaurant in the Rydges Plaza Reviews

From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009

Only the ’80s pop tunes pumping from the in-house stereo take from the rustic nature of Il Rustico, an otherwise pleasant restaurant off the lobby of Rydges Plaza hotel.

It has a solid, woody feel with earthenware propping up the sidings – as rural as you’re likely to find this side of the Sheikh Zayed Road.

The food is impressive: the rocket and dried tomato salad is springy and fresh, radiating a lush green healthiness, dashed in a homely white sauce – the kind of dish that’d make a T-rex rethink his diet.

The magnificent plates of pasta are well prepared and the portions are worth noting for their prudence: you’re left feeling neither bloated nor dissatisfied. Il Rustico does desserts like it’s their raison d’être. If semolina has always put you in mind of sickly school dinners, allow these chefs to show you the way.

Like a big ball of happiness in a sticky berry sauce, Il Rustico definitely saves the best for last.

Fantastic place for a nice family evening.
Tasty food at a very reasonable price, extensive choice to please all tastes, and a very decent wine list all adds up to a cheerful dinner.
Thanks for the tips, Time-Out !

Just loved this little cosy place! Best bang for your buck. Vanilla ice cream and chocolate dipped strawberries to fight for :) Overall, a very scintillating experience.

Bit harsh there Time Out.

This is a cracking little, non-fussy Italian. It wears its heart on its sleeve and does what it says on the tin.

Good food, great service and good prices. And in a great location.

Try it again - you will be surprised.

PS Are you sure you have not confused this review with the one for Da Vincis at the Millennium Hotel? A once great Italian that is now awful.
