From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009

When it comes to authenticity in Dubai (a rare commodity, the first place to look would not usually be the marina.

Stefano’s is a casual Italian on Marina Walk and it sounds promising, as the owners are Italian and the ingredients flown in from Italy. However, a great Italian restaurant, it seems, this does not make.

The decor is distinctly dingy (particularly the toilets), and it’s difficult to pick out a theme from the various odds and ends that litter the place: a poor watercolour here, a ship’s wheel there, and quaint red, chequered tablecloths.

The menu, however, shows more promise, and the dishes are properly executed and tasty, but not earth shattering. Stefano’s isn’t a revelation; nothing about the food or ambience demands your attention.

But, it is a good, trustworthy, low-key spot and a nice place to take your family for a reliable bowl of carbonara, should you find yourself nearby.

From this review Stefano's sounds terrible when it's actually a decent restaurant! While the decor is a little confusing there is also a large outdoors area that has tables and chairs as well as large comfy sofas. Stefano's also has shisha which is a relief to those of us who enjoy shisha but don't necessarily want to eat Lebanese food every time we dine.

The management of Stefano's are incredibly friendly and the service was great. The manager came to our table and offered knowledgble advice as to which meals my dietary challenged friend could enjoy.

This is by no means a fancy restaurant but it is great food in a great environment, perfect for a casual meal.

Also, the bathrooms are common ones used by the building so the fact that they are dingy is through no fault of Stefano's.
