From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009

Vivaldi may be on the wrong side of the creek, so to speak, but set yourself up on the terrace of this long-serving Italian, focaccia and tapenade in hand, and there are few better places to pass an evening.

Twinkling dhows glide past, pedestrians promenade on the waterfront below, and you get to enjoy some consistently competent Italian cuisine.

Stand-out starters include pan-fried foie gras with roasted figs, and lashings of Jabugo ham sprinkled with rocket. Mains are rich affairs; the beef entrecote swamped in a Barolo wine sauce, and the sea scallops perched on pumpkin puree and chanterelle mushrooms.

Service is leisurely, but then, so is the setting, and the price tags don’t scream back at you.
