Bento-Ya
Sushi specialist on Sheikh Zayed Road 5 Reviews
From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009
‘Simple’ and ‘genuine’ sum up this diminutive Japanese joint on Sheikh Zayed Road, which has enough Japanese clientele to quell any fears about authenticity.
With walls plastered with ‘know your sushi’ and ‘fish of the UAE’ posters, diners will be greeted by a chorus of ‘welcome’ by a friendly choir of staff, and plied with mugs of green tea.
The sushi and sashimi are particularly decent – try the maki platter of tender tuna, salmon, crabstick and cucumber rolls. If you need meat, the yakiniku bento box, crammed with tender pan-fried beef in a ginger teriyaki sauce, accompanied by rice, pickled aubergine, sweet egg omelette and deep-fried fish is a good bet.
And before you bid Bento-Ya ‘sayonara’, finish off your meal with a green tea ice cream.
