From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009
It’s rare to see a restaurant swarming in Dubai. Even the big names struggle to pull in much of a crowd. So it’s a surprise to find a buffet restaurant, even on a Monday night, buzzing.
Navigating the live cooking stations at Creekside is trickier than it needs to be. The tempura and teppankayi stations are intermittently manned, making it hard to actually gather anything freshly cooked, but the stuff you do manage to pluck is startlingly good.
The quality of sushi and sashimi is beyond the expectations of a buffet, melting in a puff on the tongue. Beneath an airy tempura batter lays tender shrimp and crisp vegetables. The dessert station holds visual masterpieces that are far too good for a buffet, as they are slashed to pieces by eager diners.
While the options are standard – tiramisu, profiteroles, mango pudding – they are a cut above; rich in flavour and made with ingredients that are fresh and chosen with care. Creekside is popular because the food is reliable (even if the service isn’tand because the limit to what you can eat rests in the belly, not the wallet.
