Ichiban Japanese Steakhouse
Cheep and cheerful Japanese food on Bank Street 1 Reviews
From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009
We’ve always been fans of this independent eatery. Ichiban punches above its weight, with a large, varied menu and a smart, if predictable, interior.
It’s a shame, then, that it doesn’t always pull in the punters it deserves. People are missing out, too, as the food is mostly very tasty and extremely good value.
The Ichiban Special is worth a try, consisting of miso soup, salad, sashimi, chicken, lobster, crabstick tempura, Gulf prawns and Japanese fried rice. And, if you’re not already full to the gills, a fruit dessert.
If that sounds like overkill, try the assorted sushi and the seafood salad. Both are good enough to grace most hotel restaurants, where you would be charged twice as much for the privilege.
Our one gripe is the erratic service, but that’s a minor concern. Overall, we’re pleased that affordable Japanese cuisine can be found in the heart of Bur Dubai.
