From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009
The decor here is spot on – all clean lines, blonde wood finishing, and cute bonsai trees on every table.
Plus, there’s always a healthy contingent of Japanese businessmen in attendance. Follow their lead when it comes to choosing from the extensive menu, as the sheer number of dishes can be intimidating to the untrained eye.
We’re big fans of the seafood salads and bowls of soup, which are mostly fresh and healthy. You’re also onto a winner with the grilled options. The marinated cod is small but spectacular, drenched in flavour and light as a feather.
The bento boxes require more caution. They are good value in terms of size and variety, and it’s tempting to order one to avoid deliberating over the rest of the menu. However, the vegetable tempura is uninspiring, the pan-friend pork belly is underwhelming and the glob of mayonnaise on the side is unforgivable.
But stick to the more authentic dishes and you’ll have one of the best Japanese meals in town, accompanied by slick service and attractive surroundings.
