From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009
Consistency and longevity are the cornerstones to the success of this Century Village restaurant. The menu has changed little over the years, because it hasn’t really needed to.
We’re fans of the mixed seafood soup, a hearty combination of Chinese cabbage, seaweed, prawns, hammour and calamari.
Accompany your meal with a salad – we particularly recommend the seared tuna salad with ginger dressing; split this too and you’ve got the makings of a substantial starter or a good light meal.
The sushi combinations also fare well. There’s a decent range of mixed dishes to choose from. We like the multi-coloured maki with tempura prawn, crab, avocado and mango, covered with salmon roe. The salmon teriyaki sushi is also a decent bet, and mention should also be made of the combination meals.
They’re great value and you’ll get a bowl of miso soup, stir fried fish and vegetables and a mound of rice. Admittedly there are more authentic Japanese restaurants in town, with dishes that are a notch above the ones here. But if you’re after a decent setting, friendly service and good value, you won’t go far wrong.
