As long as you’re not offended by cries of, ‘Diet Pepsi for sexy lady!’ as the chef sprinkles soy sauce on sizzling hammour, or mischievous comments like, ‘Lebanese banana – very small’, as buttery courgettes are lined up on the teppan with military precision, seafood night at Benihana makes for a fantastic evening out.

The miso soup and ginger-laden salad, which are promptly served on arrival, are accompanied by knife juggling that would have Jackie Chan cowering under the table. Once you’re back in your seat, fluffy egg-fried rice is whipped out of the kitchen while fresh, juicy prawns and succulent salmon are cooked in front of you, with each product of the teppan increasingly moreish than the last.

It’s perfect for first dates: the constant entertainment means silences aren’t awkward, although the unlimited alcohol will probably put paid to too many of those.You may have already had to undo a button after the all-you-can-eat savouries, but dessert is a must: the green tea chocolate fountain and bite-sized tartlets provide an irresistible finale to a faultless feast.

best of all Japanese restaurants,
top of my list, i go there every Tuesday for sushi night...

Delicious food, unique taste, high quality meat.

Had very slow drink service and the meat, especially the chicken was poor quality (thigh, not breast meat). The sushi was just ok but ordered the chicken, steak, and lobster and all were tough. The chef was not very experienced and missed on the tricks. Got a shrimp tail in my drink.
