From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009
Dubai’s Thai food cognoscenti may not be tripping over their chopsticks to make it here, but those looking for serene surroundings, attentive service and an easy-to-swallow bill won’t find much better than Thai Chi. The interior of the restaurant is a bit dated, so go in ‘winter’ and sit on the terrace.
The traditional (if slippery) bridges, tea lights and trickling fountains mean it’s a soothing sanctuary. The menu may cause forehead creases, but mainly because of its length. Covering both Chinese and Thai, it includes staples (pai Thai, curries and so on), as well as the more adventurous (NB: Don’t eat the rice parcels that the gai hor bai toey arrives in), and several dishes are on the overly spicy side (the roast duck curry, for example).
More like fair dining than fine, portions are ample, though not the eat until you erupt Dubai norm. Ideal for dining with mates, dates or co-workers, Thai Chi’s slightly worn charm makes eating here a happy escape from the city’s unstoppable swirl.
