From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009
Along with the dozens of low cost snack stops and scruffy cafes, Deira is home to a handful of Dubai’s most prestigious (and most expensive) restaurants. Palm Grill is one of these budget-busting venues and the former Time Out award-winner joins the likes of Verre and JW’s Steakhouse in Deira’s elite.
Most expensive, however, does not always mean best, and the Palm Grill is guilty of under-delivering on its prices. Not that you can knock the food. Steaks are served up without unnecessary garnish, and would please even the most discerning of palettes.
The side dishes are also very good – the grilled asparagus is crunchy, buttery and robustly flavoursome, while the wilted spinach is sprightlier than its name might suggest. The one stickling point is price.
The food doesn’t quite reach the same heights of its aforementioned neighbours but it is head and shoulders above the budget options in this category. If you’re in the neighbourhood and want good steak, give it a try, but this isn’t worth crossing town for.
