From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009
Nestled within the Meriden Airport’s yellow brick road of restaurants, Sukhothai first impresses with its wood-heavy Asian oasis of an interior, and then even more so with the quality of its food.
While the menu initially appears overwhelming (particularly if you attempt to read the Thai translations, the four set menus offer an easy and economical route out of the confusion, as well as dozens of different flavours. Our favourite is the ‘royal Thai’, which comprises a combination of seafood, vegetarian and meat dishes, including a particularly stand-out juicy mushroom dish and a scrumptious mango and sticky rice pudding.
In fact, the spices and tastes are so divine you’ll find yourself reaching for the ladle despite your Buddha-like belly. That is, of course, if you can grab it before your friendly server beats you to it.
While we highly commend the wait staff’s knowledge of the food and very welcoming manner, the constant enquiries into whether you’re enjoying yourselves and your meal can disintegrate conversation and become tiresome.
One last thing: if you’re planning on eating outside, check the football schedules first – or you’ll find yourself competing with the sport screens of Dubliners next door.
