Bazerkhan
Arabic restaurant with live music and outdoor seating Discuss this article
From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009
Hold your breath when you walk through the Capitol Hotel’s musty lobby and make your way to the rooftop. This is where you’ll find Bazerkhan, a restaurant with surprisingly superior Lebanese cuisine.
Within this roomy eatery there’s a stage for musicians, murals adorning most of the walls and even a tiny swimming pool facing diners on the outdoor terrace. But, unlike its chain sister restaurant at the Jumeirah Beach Residence, it is near deserted in the evening, with all the atmosphere and spark of a funeral parlour.
The lack of diners means you get a graciously friendly waiter all to yourself, who will cartwheel backwards to suggest mezze and mains. Smother your Arabic bread with the garlic-charged houmous Beiruty – easily the best in Dubai – or the sesame tajin topped with chunks of cooked fish.
Meat dishes are the standouts; the mixed grill should be approached only with a hardy appetite, while Time Out strongly recommends the kebbeh naieh – raw lamb’s meat smothered in garlic and olive oil.
