Iranzamin
Traditional Iranian food in Deira Discuss this article
From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009
Stuck on the mezzanine of one of Dubai’s most gloriously ugly ’80s hotels, Iranzamin is a popular, charming spot serving up tasty, if slightly heavy, dishes at prices a bit above standard for the area. The Persian soundtrack blasts into the realms of OTT and can make dining a rather dramatic experience.
Still, dig into cucumber mast, chunky and hot mirza ghasemi and make the most of this rather limited selection of entrées, even if the bread is a touch limp. Service couldn’t be friendlier and they’re ready to offer suggestions to those new to Persian food, so give the polo dishes a try – heaps of pomegranate-seed-laden rice in a variety of colours.
The zereshk polo ba morgh is particularly colourful, even the yellow-baked chicken breast has a colour verging on the atomic. Iranzamin’s signature kebab of chicken and lamb is a slightly less adventurous option but no less tasty.
If you’ve got space, dip into Iranzamin’s adjoining café for black tea and sweets in bed-like booths.
