Waterside Seafood Restaurant & Terrace
Well thought out seafood in the Al Murooj Rotana Discuss this article
From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009
This pretty spot – a mere pebble’s throw from the midst of the ongoing Dubai Mall building maelstrom – is an oasis of calm. Service is attentive yet never cloying, the decor is slightly dated, but the atmosphere is relaxed, and the food is of a consistently high standard. Highlights include a densely-flavoured, yet surprisingly light, lobster soup and a perfectly al dente clam risotto.
Grilled sole is the very model of culinary restraint and all the better for it, and while desserts are less than memorable, there’s enough else on the menu to more than compensate.
We recommend visiting when it’s cool enough to sit outside on the wooden decking, to take full advantage of the restaurant’s oddly picturesque setting (the ‘water’ is a small canal that runs through the Al Marooj complex).
Waterside may not be the kind of place to win awards – it’s not flash or brash enough for that. But as a consistent, pleasing dinner choice, it definitely gets our vote.
