High class seafood in the Ritz-Carlton hotel Discuss this article
From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009
The menu here reads like something pleasingly experimental, with offerings from the starters featuring the likes of foie gras custard and caviar parfait. They look impressive, too – beautifully arranged parcels and towers that, as the menu notes, could well be a nod to the fact that chef de cuisine, Umit Kaygusuz, studied architecture before the siren call of the kitchen led him to retrain as a chef.
What arrives, however, is rather more traditional, taste-wise, than it sounds – well-cooked, well-sourced dishes that are bound to please the Ritz Carlton’s more conventional guests, but can’t help leaving those of us who expected something a little more modern feeling a little cheated.
The clue, however, really is in the room – a beautiful, chandeliered space with finely starched tablecloths and full silver service, with a pretty terrace overlooking the hotel’s luscious grounds.
While this might not be right for couples who to want to titillate or seduce their tastebuds, it’s the perfect spot to bring older relatives for a very special dinner.
