From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009

Despite being shoved at the back of Harvey Nichols, this restaurant manages to throw together good food with enough kitsch touches to feel unique and un-mall like. Don’t let the absence of alcohol sway your judgement, the place is still very lively and you have to wade through a sweet haze of shisha to get a seat in the back room.

There are some unusual and inspired things on the menu. Open with a pigeon pastilla (pigeon pie, which is as steamy, hot and heartwarming as they come. The mezze choices don’t fair quite as well, with a slightly dull Moroccan salad and far-too-creamy houmous really letting starters down.

The tagine kefta for mains is also a bit of a lifeless flop, but the lamb tagine can’t be faulted – deep cooked in prunes and almonds, the dish bounces with flavour and, mopped with a floury Moroccan muffin, is sure to bring you back.

The iftar buffet in Ramadan is absolutely fantastic. Large variety, moroccan and middle eastern, best dessert and best salads, and home cooked tagines. Outside Ramadan? less fantastic, but good.

Love the food, absoluately love the food. Lamb does not get better than this. The portions are large. Ambience is perfect. Tucked away in the back of the Mall is just perfect. Great selection of food and never dissapoints. I've been there many times.

I have no regrets about the place none whatsoever the whole Nine yards.. Great job Almaz.. though my only concern is the young guy that was working at the reception.. Lorenzo if am not mistaken.. He knew how to charm the ladies.. Professional and wellcoming he was.. You honestly did loose a gem.. One in a million would be able to match up to his charisma.....

Amazing decor, you would never know you are in the middle of a department store in Emirates Mall. The best Moroccan food in town. The separate sheesha room is a great touch.
