From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009

Stuck on an obscure balcony in the Madinat, this easy-going Moroccan spot can be tricky to find – but once you do, you’ll be rewarded with a beautiful view of the canals below. If you can, opt for a table outside, as the inside can feel a bit lonesome, in spite of the live oud band.

Though last year we found the food a bit lacklustre, this year we’ve seen strong signs of improvement. The shrimp in the meshoui dish are large and fleshy. The raucously spiced mergeuz sausages also makes for a sensational starter. Some items are a bit of a miss, however; the cous cous royale offers off-the-bone tender chunks of meat, but the watery soup accompaniment leaves the cous cous soggy.

Though the bill can be breathtakingly high, Shoo Fee Ma Fee is a good spot for merriment and decent food, which can be comfortably rounded off with shisha.

I have never had a better meal in every possible sense than at this restaurant. The Lamb tagine is wonderful. It is aromatic and the meat pretty much falls off the bone. The couscous is flavorful and the gallette appetizer was incredible. I also can't sing the praises of their servers enough, or at least the young man who has attended us both times we have been there. He was knowledgeable and courteous and had perfect timing in refreshing drinks and taking dishes away.
I love this place and thank it for introducing me to Moroccan food, which I now love as well.
