From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009

If the food was as jaw dropping as the tastefully done interior, this could be one of the best restaurants in Dubai. Pandering to every cliché of the cuisine’s region, Tagine features rousing but bearable live music, fez-wearing waiters, and some fine Casablanca beer. But the food could be more arresting.

An uninspiring salade marrakachia is accompanied by a single Moroccan muffin, and, while the briouates, a baked filo pastry packed with spicy minced meat, rice and seafood, is perhaps the best part of the meal, it doesn’t overturn the idea that the food is uninspired.

Should atmosphere be your thing, this place has it by the velvet armful.

We got ripped off at Tagine. The atmosphere and food were nice, but when I ordered a side dish of couscous, they charged me the same price as a main meal for it. 80 Dhs for a plate of couscous for two is ridiculous. We were also served the most expensive water there without being asked or told what the options were. Although the waiters were attentive, I walked away feeling like they had done us over.
