From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009
If you work anywhere near the Financial Centre, chances are you’ve ended up at this pricey but exceptional restaurant for a business lunch. Hugely popular, lunch and evenings are packed with a changing crowd of suits and dish-dashed businessmen tucking into the first-rate food.
We say go for the baba ganoush – it’s unbeatably fruity and as rough and tasty as true ganoush should be. Also, grab a plate of jergier with your mezze; this is crisp and fresh rocket leaf that glistens with oil and sparks with punchy onions.
Dig into kibbeh nayeh, a speciality raw minced lamb, pounded with bulgur wheat and splashed with a blend of mint and oil. Or, if raw meat doesn’t quite do it for you, the selection of kebab plates are a hit, as is the houmous shawarma (basically houmous with meat. Portions are huge: give in to the urge to order wildly here and they’ll be carrying you out with that last meat samousek clasped between your mitts.
