Al Sawan
The Dhow Palace's Lebanese restaurant Discuss this article
From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2009
In a city with so many incredible Lebanese eateries to choose from, Al Sawan is best avoided. The food is banal, with little or no thought given to presentation. When Time Out paid a visit, the Arabic bread basket was slapped on the table and sealed in plastic wrap, the overuse of chilli in the mouhamra rendered it inedible, and we had to play a game of hide and seek to find the chicken in the shish taouk.
The zesty fattoush salad perked things up slightly, but the depressing atmosphere does little to enhance the overall experience, with wood-panelled walls and dowdy furniture creating a claustrophobic mood.
Though they are friendly enough, the waiters mill about nervously, randomly shifting furniture and congregating by the entrance.
