Ethereal, enigmatic and aromatic; Aroma Garden café is the ultimate place to unwind and de-stress. There is soft lighting, the sound of running water and a lot of climbing, creeping and dangling vegetation (mostly alive and remarkably lush.)
A lot of effort has gone into designing this large meandering eatery, and for Dubai, it is commendably unique. Filled with locals, it has quickly become a popular meeting place for a snack and a shisha, or just a shisha and coffee. If you are planning to eat, you might want to position yourself away from the sweet fumes — the air becomes thick and intense with apple and strawberry smoke.
The menu offers an international selection of starters, soups, sandwiches, pizzas, pasta, main dishes and puddings (mostly cakes). The drinks menu is crammed with flavoured coffees, mochas and hot chocolates – but be aware they are for the very sweet toothed.
Their garden salad was a big rustic bowl of lettuce with a few strips of tomato, cucumber and celery and grated carrot. Pizzas were large and topped with lovely home-made tomato sauce with lots of fresh herbs, but the base was not crispy, as described. The spaghetti with vegetables was a hearty portion with a generous amount of garlic in it. We think the mushrooms were from a tin and not the garden. We skipped pudding in favour of coffee and hot chocolate.
With so many nooks and crannies there was a tendency for the waiting staff to forget about you for long intervals. However, if you are not in a rush to go anywhere this is an ideal place to go for a simple meal and to chill out.
