Méridien Village Terrace
Outdoor venue with great service and good food 5 Reviews
The Wednesday evening in mid-May when we visited the Meridien Village was possibly one of the last nights that it was possible to sit outside, before the onset of ridiculous summer temperatures and humidity. When we arrived at 9pm it was still quite sticky but by 10pm it was very pleasant. The small pond next to our table was psychologically cooling if not practically so. We had an unrestricted view of the band and were far enough from the barbeques not to be effected by heat or fumes, but we could still appreciate the wafting aromas.
The spread of food was extensive and waiting staff were regularly at our elbow to refill our drinks, which were all included in the price. We began with simple salad items and cold mezze. The selection of meats on the barbeque was impressive; steaks, ribs, kebabs, chicken, burgers, sausages and so on. Chinese, Indian, Arabic, Mexican and European style dishes were all on offer and these were complemented by a choice of potatoes, rice and vegetable dishes. It was a pleasant surprise to find such a good, traditional navarin of lamb in the midst of an outdoor buffet. The dessert selection comprised all the old favourites; crème brulee, fruit tartlets, tiramisu, ice cream, freshly made crepes and Indian and Arabic specialities too.
This was a most enjoyable evening; good food, excellent service, relaxed atmosphere and cheerful live music; great value overall. We look forward to the return of the cooler weather when the Meridien Village will re-open for barbeques again.
