I n a city full of pricey minimalist furniture stores and gold-kissed interior options, finding a little haven of tasteful vintage buys is a blessing.
Pier Import has been a household name in Dubai for the past 19 years, and with almost two decades gone, the Mazaya Centre store has maintained its reputation for selling some of the region’s best vintage buys.
Want a sewing machine from 1885? Pier Import has it. Looking for a camera that dates back to the 1900s? No problem. But despite wares worthy of discerning collectors, this chic store is not pretentious.
Pier Import houses an expertly edited collection of suitcases, old-school radios, vases, mirrors and cutlery much of which looks like it once belonged to your grandmother. In fact, it has been refurbished by the owner, aka the furniture whisperer, Dr Faisal Al Mutawa. The contemporary options don’t lag behind either, with calf leather sofas and faux-vintage coffee tables putting up a fair fight.
While there may be more than 12,000 products in the alcove-filled showroom, a grand organ from 1889 and a classic typewriter from the late 1800s are some of our favourite pieces.
Walk into this maze-like store inside the Sheikh Zayed Road shopping centre and feel a sense of déjà vu as you sift through racks of curated treasures. Pier Import
