Cool accessories, fancy furniture and a bag with a Dubai twist
Cool news for accessory freaks: not only has coveted British handbag label Longchamp (04 354 9539) opened a new store at Mall of the Emirates, it has also unveiled a limited-edition ‘Dubai bag’ made especially for the UAE. The locally inspired white canvas tote features black leather handles and a Dubai-centric print that blends Arabic script, the Burj Khalifa and a jockey on horseback. Snap one up quick – they’re tipped to become collectors’ items.
Collectors of another kind will be interested to know that an interior design and furniture concept store has opened on Al Wasl Road. The frilly, fussed-over pieces at Petit Palais (04 385 4142) echo the lavish era of Marie Antoinette and feature elaborate chandeliers in pastel shades, with tiny lampshades and diamante droplet details. The designs are not to everyone’s taste – some of the pieces on offer are museum replicas – but there are plenty of less imposing items that give the same sort of effect without drowning out the room.
Finally, we’re excited to reveal that chic Parisian jewellery label Agatha Paris (04 232 9622) is jumping on board the 50th anniversary of Brit rockers The Rolling Stones, unveiling an edgy collection of rock-inspired accessories. The range features double-finger rings, military tag-style neck charms and simple black plastic timepieces.
