1 Be stylish, but conservative Consider your hem-length. Your dress or skirt should come to your knee. Classic, elegant styles of dresses are usually a safe bet. You should also leave the sequins and strappy dresses at home. Make sure your hair is nicely groomed, as your head will be the focal point. A neat ponytail or chic chignon are your best bet, as they let your hat do all the talking. Buy: White Dress, Dhs129, H&M, various locations including Dubai Marina Mall, www.hm.com/ae (050 103 2973)
2 Wear headwear The races are the perfect opportunity to wear a hat. There has been some really great catwalk inspiration from high-end brands lately such as Giambattista Valli. Your headwear needs to be tasteful and needs to work back with your overall outfit. Make sure it’s comfortable and not too heavy. 3 Think about accessories Your accessories don’t have to match your outfit perfectly. You can wear bold florals with stripes as long as you are clever about it. Adding a cool clutch or a gorgeous pair of gloves are a great way to make a statement but make sure you wear simple jewellery to complement your outfit. This isn’t the time for bling.
