Time Out takes a look at the The Lime Tree Café & Kitchen retail offering, something of a hidden gem among all the homeware shopping in Dubai
How many times have you sat in your favourite café and wished you owned the cutlery or plate before you? While we don’t suggest wiping them down and putting them in your bag once you’ve finished your meal, we do suggest a visit to The Lime Tree Café & Kitchen, instead. All three branches have a retail space selling its own packaged foods, recipe books and kitchenware.
While the café has been around since 2001, producing some of the best baked goods the city has eaten (including an iconic carrot cake), this home-grown brand is unlike any other in Dubai. Owned by two best friends from New Zealand, its philosophy is to provide unique food to its customers, while incorporating Middle Eastern flavours into its recipes. And its retail store gives you the opportunity to create that café feeling in your own kitchen or living room.
There’s also a decent range of jams, chutneys, organic coffee beans and toasted muesli for sale, alongside bamboo boards, spoons, aprons and linens for those who find their sanity in front of a stove. And for the looming festive season, you can look forward to picking up some Santa and elf cookies, gourmet gifts including biscotti and shortbread, and hand-iced, hand-made gingerbread houses. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, indeed.
